Prior shooting experience is not necessary, and guns and ammunition will be provided.

Whether attendees are beginner or champion shooters, guests of all skill levels will enjoy this inaugural sporting clays charity shoot!

WHO:  Benefiting the world’s largest charity that is clearing landmines globally, The HALO Trust, along with their longtime partner Freedom Fields USA

The event is being chaired by Cindy McCain, a longtime HALO supporter and trustee of HALO USA, along with Freedom Fields USA of Carmel, California, one of HALO’s largest private supporters.

WHY:  To support global landmine removal programs

This event will help The HALO Trust and Freedom Fields USA raise awareness and funds for their efforts globally, and make new friends and supporters locally.  The Landmine Monitor reported 3,956 casualties from landmines and other explosive remnants of war in 2009, and a total of 73,576 over the ten-year period 1999-2008.  Beyond the immediate and often deadly impact landmines cause, mines take a heavy toll on people's livelihoods, countries' economic and social development, and international peace-building efforts.

HALO is the world's oldest and largest humanitarian landmine clearance organization.  Over the past 23 years, HALO has destroyed more than 1.3 million landmines and cleared 7,400 minefields totaling over 67,625 acres.

WHEN: Saturday, November 12, 2011, 9:00am to 2:00pm

The shoot will be a casual tournament limited to 15 teams of five.  The event will begin with a light breakfast, instruction, and warm-up, followed by two and a half hours of shooting and a catered barbeque lunch.
